This New England Faculty Development Consortium conference at the Roger Williams University discusses the transition from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) to STEAM (STEM with Art). From learning about successful STEAM projects and through practical workshops and helpful lessons for educators this conference will provide ways that teachers can implement art in the classroom. This is a great step forward for implementing STEAM in the classroom.
One presentation “Scientific Illustrations Improved through Visual Arts Intervention” by Lisa Delissio of Salem State University is a good example of how art introduces observational techniques through teaching drawing principles to enhance scientific knowledge building. Read more about it here.
